There's a 1/3 chance of being an elf.

There's also a 1/5 chance of have magic.

Since these 2 events are distinct from each other, the chances of being a magic elf is 1/15.

So you have a 1 in 3 chance of being an elf: 1/3

And a 1 in 5 chance of having the magic: 1/5

Now multiply the two: 1/3 * 1/5 = 1/15 you have a 1 in 15 chance of being a magic elf
