Explanation:

The parent function [tex]y = \sqrt{x}[/tex] is always increasing and it has the left-most endpoint at (0,0). Replacing every x with x-1 will move that point one unit to the right to end up at (1,0)

So going from [tex]y = \sqrt{x}[/tex] to [tex]y = \sqrt{x-1}[/tex] shifts the entire curve 1 unit to the right. What results is shown in graph Y.
