In the short story "Good Bye to All That" by Richard Graves, the narrator makes a number of important life choices:
1. He chose to join the military despite knowing that doing so was dangerous.
2. He chose to engage in battle and not attempt to escape from such like other soldiers did.
3. He chose to accept the likely possibility that he would be killed in action and to continue to fight and live his life despite such.
